London’s Clerkenwell is an extremely creative area; in fact it is home to more innovative businesses than anywhere else in the world. I love going to this creative hub to see what is at the cutting edge; design, print, fashion, furniture, or architecture, I go for inspiration. It feels perfect that it is also home to one of the best design festivals in the capital.
This is a very exciting time of the year for me, the Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) is a great opportunity to get out of the factory and be a part of the phenomenal festival. My key objectives are to drink in the atmosphere, be a part of and inspired by the creativity on show, meet with like-minded people, suppliers and organisations.
It gives me a chance to visit industry relevant design showrooms, view the up-coming trends that will start to appear in the furniture sector. This is what really inspires me. It allows me to reflect on the Chairplan range, comparing our latest designs with those exhibiting and often inspires me to go back to the factory with new and exciting ideas to share with the research and development team. This in turn allows the designers to get creative. This combination of ‘on-trend’ and our style is how new ideas and new ranges are born.
I really cannot wait to get to CDW this year, listen to the talks, watch the events, product launches, get involved with workshops and fully interact with the show.
The Clerkenwell Design Week exhibition is a highlight of the Chairplan calendar. I will be on Facebook live on Wednesday 24th May so you too can enjoy the atmosphere, exhibitions and shows from the comfort of your screen. Make sure you go to @Chairplan on Facebook to see all that is going on.
I look forward to seeing you there.
